Open Water Swimming
Kate Mason is one of the UK’s top open-water swimmers (in her age group), and she can help you achieve your open-water swimming dreams.
Kate trains in Weymouth and Portland all year round, so she knows the local waters very well. She coaches groups of triathletes and channel swimmers in the sea during the spring and summer.
When the water warms up in Mid-May, group open water starts. These sessions are suitable for people who can already swim comfortably out of their depth and can swim front crawl consistently for at least 400m. It is an excellent opportunity to swim with others and gain confidence in the open water, learning skills, such as ‘sighting’ and ‘drafting.’
Long Distance Swimming
Kate has swam numerous solo swims, including the English Channel, around Manhattan island, around Jersey in the Channel Islands, Jersey to France, Perth to Rottnest Island in Australia and numerous swims in Lake Zurich.
You might be training for your first open water event/triathlon or training for the English Channel. Kate can accompany you on a kayak or rescue board, one to one, or share sessions in Weymouth bay or Portland Harbour.
Kate can arrange longer guided swims along Weymouth Bay, starting from 2.4 miles to whatever distance you want. These sessions can be personalised to you and your goals. She is happy to accompany you on your 1 1/2 – 2 hr (relay) or 6hr (solo) English Channel qualifying swim.
